Red Feather Trail and River Drive:

Trip To Red Feather Trail and River Drive Well, what's an interesting trip without a stop by the police. The police definitely gave that extra jolt to the night on the Shades of Death trip. And definitely gave us a 'kick' on this trip...but I'll get to that. We were talking online, planning the trip, Shaun and myself for only about two hours tops. A short simple plan. We hit Red Feather Trail first then reroute from there to River Drive and head home. Just to the set the background for the night, Shaun got lost coming to my house. Then we got lost because apparently there are several Lakehurst Roads and we turned down the wrong one...oops. Well eventually we made it to Red Feather Trail and took a nifty picture next to the sign. Not any real paranormal activity experienced on Red Feather Trail. But we had to go to three or four different Red Feather Trail signs before we could stop at one and even the one we stopped at, people were looking at us. Maybe because, being the goofball paranormal tourists we are, we went and took pictures next to the sign and went up and down the street several times. Well, we were done with this place and ready for the more meaty (hopefully) River Drive...

On the way to River Drive, we saw this goat-like white deer standing on the edge of the road near the forest. Of course, Shaun (the animal-lover he is) stopped and we took pictures. Neither of us having ever seen a white deer before, we were interested...I know that has nothing to do with the paranormal but I thought I'd throw it in here because it was part of our trip.

Along the way, we managed to get a little bit lost but not really and found River Drive with relative ease. We ventured up the long and eerie road with little to no paranormal seeming activity. Besides actually hearing footsteps in front of me running through the water and then onto land and through the brush when I was about to get into the car to leave, we didn't hear much. As well, there were some strange black markings on what appeared to be some sort of meter or something (very similiar markings on both of the two meters we saw).

After departing from River Drive, disappointed, we were looking for somewhere to eat and easily got really really lost. We ended up in some unknown town asking for directions (the directions got us even more lost). We saw an intriguing looking graveyard on the left hand side of the road that I suggested we stop at and see if we could drive right into it. Next to the cemetary was an abandoned building and parking lot. We pulled into the parking lot to see if there was a way into the graveyard but there wasn't. So we decided to see if there was another way to turn in up ahead, so we took a right and this unmarked car turns on its lights and speeds up behind us. Shaun pulls over the car. We hear a loudspeaker, "Turn off the engine immediately, put the keys on top of the car then put your hands on the steering wheel where we can see them!" Another poop-in-the-pants moment. We were just trying to get into a graveyard officers...oops. An officer comes up to Shaun's window and asks for license and registration. At that moment, a tall black officer comes up to my window and taps it hard with a club to indicate me to roll down my window. I do and he asks me what we are doing here. I stammer that we are on a weird NJ trip, we have maps in the back (which we showed them) and we got lost. I said we don't even know where we are. "You're in camden." My face dropped. "Camden?!" Oh shit I thought, we're in camden! I ask the officer why he pulled us over and he informs us that there's been a big problem with prostitution in that parking lot next to the abandoned building that we just pulled out of. They let us go, told us to be careful and pointed us in the right direction. Scared to death, we look at each other with one thought, "So which one of us did the cop think was the prostitute?" Guess we'll never know.

We did find this really neat Mcdonalds after that though.
